Eartha Kitt died yesterday of cancer at the age of 81; given her notorious personality, it's appropriate that she died on Christmas Day. I remember watching her as a child when she played Cat Woman on Batman, before Julie Newmar took over. When I was in Junior High, my uncle took me to see a performance of Timbuktu! in Boston, and I sat just several rows away from her, watching her do a musical number that I remember as all throaty growl and grinding hips.
And like Eartha, I just want an old-fashioned millionaire....
